Our Sacrament preparation classes are held on Sundays from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. from late September through May of each school year with holidays off at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and Presidents’ Day.
Do you feel that you are being called to teach our faith to the children in our parish? If you would like to work as a Catechist or a volunteer along with the Catechists who share their faith with the children on a weekly basis while they prepare for the Sacraments, call the Parish Office at (510) 895-5631 and leave a message for Anita Marquez, Catechetics Coordinator.

Becoming a Catholic (RCIA)
-Adult (English/Spanish)
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
- Matthew 28:19
What the ministry is about:
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which interested adults and older children are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. It is a liturgical rite, usually celebrated on some annual date or dates, marking the beginning of the catechumenate proper, as the candidates express and the Church accepts their intention to respond to God’s call to follow the way of Christ.
Class times:
Classes meet on Saturday mornings from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., beginning late September.
Service Opportunity:
RCIA is a ministry to assist catechumens in their spiritual journey and conversion process through education, formation, and resources to live up to the expectations of full implementation of the Rite. The process would call forth the gifts and effort of many members of the entire community so much so that the process would have an effect on the community as well as the individuals seeking initiation. Join the team in sharing your faith and church teachings with the adults who are seeking to become members of our church or receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Suggested attributes for volunteers:
Confirmed and practicing Catholics willing to share with someone his/her faith, time, emotional and spiritual support. Or providing with baked goods, fruit, and something to drink would be very helpful.
Contact us:
If you would like more information or interested in participating in RCIA process, either as a candidate or as a volunteer, call Anita Marquez at the Parish Office at (510) 895-5631.
Bible Study
Beginning November 29th (the Tuesday of the First Week of Advent), a scripture class for adults is being offered in the Rectory from 7-8 pm. It will be a chance for us to study the Word of God and see its relevance vis-a-vis life experience and pray with it. For inquiries, call the Parish Office at (510) 895-5631.
Who will benefit from the Bible Study?
Anyone with an open heart and mind; willingness to spend time reading and reflecting on the scripture and sharing discussions with others is welcome.
If you would like more information or interested in participating in our Bible Study Ministry, call the Parish Office at (510) 895-5631.
